On Tuesday the 27th November the Sixth Form Careers Ambassador invited their first guest speaker of the year, Bram Schim van der Loeff, to talk to the students about his career in economics.
The key points he made were about his educational background and where he went to university. Bram gave advice to students who are contemplating studying economics at University. He emphasised that most universities look for Mathematics if applying for an economics degree and if the Mathematics level of a student is poor then it will be quite difficult to obtain a good level of understanding of economics and therefore difficult to forge a career in this field. He later went on to describe his career path in the European Investment Bank (EIB) and his different roles there.
Sophie Pit, our Careers Ambassador, would like to thank Bram Schim van der Loeff and everyone who attended this career lunch. The Career Lunches serve as an excellent opportunity for students to ask questions about the things they actually want to know about university and career options. Speaking to someone with work experience in a particular field is more valuable than reading about it in a book or a brochure.
Sophie is looking for more guest speakers to enrich the Career Lunches programme and is keen for any interested parties to come forward and get in contact via reception@st-georges.lu.
