Find out what's happening at St George's!
Dear Parents/guardians of students in years 9/10 & 11,
As you may be aware the grading system for I/GCSEs was changed from A*-G to 9-1 by the UK government in 2016. Over a three year period the numerical system will have fully replaced the letter grades.
Our present year 11 students will be the last cohort in this transition period and may have subjects using both systems.
The current year 10 students will be awarded only 9-1 using the new system.
In response to this we have a parent / student information evening on Thursday 4th October 2018, at 6pm in the school’s auditorium.
Whilst this cannot be a discussion on the rational of the UK government’s decision, it is hoped that it can shed some light on the new grading system and how it translates to the old one.

Caroline Thomas
