Astronomer Matt Dawson visits St George's!
Posted 19/12/2017 15:44

Year 5 students were mesmerised during the talk given by Matt Dawson last week. Both the teachers and children were fascinated by his experiences and photographs. The demonstration (shown in photo) helped the children to understand the abstract idea of how to avoid an asteroid collision; which is Matt’s field of expertise. He has even had asteroid named in his honour! The children were truly inspired by how Matt realised his dream of becoming an astronomer, especially since space exploration didn’t even exist in his youth. As a passionate amateur astronomer Matt is keen to share his passion with other star gazers and has the largest portable telescope in Luxembourg. He is able to provide a guided tour of the wonders of the night sky for private or public events. Please contact mgedawson@gmail.com for further details.
