Homework for Parents St George's LuxApp Competition!

St George's is launching the “LuxApp Competition”, building on the familiarity of most Key Stage 3 students with Appshed from their ICT learning, but encouraging development of cross-curricular skills from subjects as diverse as English, Geography, History and Economics/Business.
Using the app-building site Appshed, parents are challenged to work together with their sons/daughters to create an app which can be accessed on a smartphone. The app should be family friendly, i.e. accessible to school students whilst still attractive to adults.
Competition Aims:
To encourage collaboration between parents and students, and provide students with an opportunity to be the teacher, showing parents how to create and design an app!

The awards are divided into two main categories:

- Best Luxembourg tourist guide app
- Best Luxembourg attraction (focused on one attraction or element, such as restaurants) app.
Prize:
Winners will be presented with a certificate recognising their achievement, as well as Amazon vouchers.

Rules:
- Must have 5 buttons on each screen (no more, no less!)
- Must be created and published through the site Appshed
- Sources must be acknowledged (e.g., quotes, images, facts)
- Complex or technical terms should be briefly but clearly explained
- Should be accessible for both a school age and adult (i.e. family) audience
- One submission per household
- Submit in QR code format with App name and names of all contributors to appcompetition@st-georges.lu (attach QR code as a jpg or png image file
Closing date and announcement of winners: - The closing date for entries is 31st January, 2018.
- The winners will be initially announced on the @STGeorges_SEC Twitter feed on 9th February, 2018.
