Shakespeare School's Festival Visit
Posted 09/11/2017 16:15

While the rest of the school was enjoying a well earned week away from the classroom, twenty one secondary students and three teachers travelled to London to perform two plays. On Thursday 2nd November St George's students performed Hamlet and A Midsummer Night's Dream on stage at the BRIT school's Obie theatre to a paying audience.

Here is an extract from our review by Shakespeare School's Festival :

The audience loved your chilling, atmospheric Hamlet, with its dramatic ensemble and in depth understanding of Shakespeare's language. They also loved your witty, magical A Midsummer Night's Dream, with its original and funny characterisations and colourful storytelling.

It was fantastic to work with you and your students for SSF 2017.

We made the most of being in London's theatre district with a backstage tour and actor's workshop at the Globe Theatre, a visit to the Southbank, a London dungeons tour, and a day at the V&A museum to check out their Theatre collection. We went to see School of Rock  at the New London Theatre which led to a recurring sing a long of "stick it to the man"  for the rest of the trip. We even had time for a spot of shopping in Harrods' toy department.

The Students were excellent company and I am very proud of both their conduct throughout the whole trip but particularly their final performances, which were nothing short of exceptional.
