Find out what's happening at St George's!
Dear Parent,
In Key Stage 4 students study 5 examined core subjects; English language & literature, Maths, science (double award) and a language. 2 non examined core subjects SMSC and PE and 4 options they choose from a possible 16 subjects.
However these subjects are blocked meaning that they may not be able to study certain subjects together. To help us make an informed decision on the blocking of the subjects we ask the students to fill out a wish list of their 4 choices with a 5th in reserve. This form will be sent to them electronically after taster week.
As some subjects are not taught at KS3, students have started Taster Week, a week of GCSE lessons to help them with their decisions.
We will also be holding a Key Stage 4 information evening on Thursday 4th April that you and your son/daughter are invited to attend. Here we will explain the option system and GCSEs in greater detail. There will be a short talk starting at 6pm held in the auditorium and then a chance to talk to the subject teachers and current GCSE students in the Barthel hall.
Kind regards,
